Johanna Jacobsen Kiciman is a trained reference and instruction librarian (MLIS University of Washington Information School, June 2017) with a strong academic background (PhD in Folklore and Folklife University of Pennsylvania, 2007).  Her work at Seattle Central College helped define her research interests, which include critical and culturally relevant information literacy, as well as strengthening access to information for diverse user demographics.  Work at Odegaard Undergraduate Library, Seattle Vocational Institute, as well as the Seattle Municipal Archives further bolstered her commitment to equitable access to information in the library world and beyond.

Kathleen Sullivan is a master of library and information science candidate at the University of Washington. Her background includes government and economic reporting for newspapers and Bloomberg News, community radio broadcasting and nonprofit program development, along with dialogue facilitation and pastoral ministry. She has been interested in how people use information ever since taking her first call from an angry reader. Her professional interests include open information, cultivation of critical thinking and public-interest journalism. She lives in Seattle with her husband and two sons.

Sarah Carnes is a clinical librarian at the Bedford, Massachusetts, VA Medical Center. She has an extensive background in healthcare planning, operations, and research with a concentration in emergency preparedness. Her experiences as an Army Medical Service Corps Officer, a planner and manager in a four-hospital healthcare system, and an adjunct instructor and consultant with the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center made her acutely aware of the importance and challenge of packaging and delivering health information in a user-centric fashion.
